Susan spent the first 30 years of her life in Canada before leaving the country, first to the tranquil Dominican Republic and then to metropolis of Hong Kong. In the DR, she became part of a slum just outside of Sousa called Rio Mar where she worked with the young Mom’s and kids, doing whatever she could to tend to their needs – whether that was building a house, getting medical care for the sick, feeding and clothing the poor, teaching a Mom how to properly care for their baby or just playing with throngs of kids. For many years Maurice worked as an underwater welder throughout Canada. For the past decade he has spent his life volunteering with various humanitarian and mission organizations around the world. He spent time in Burkina Faso Africa and the Ukraine working in orphanages doing whatever came his way to put a smile on their faces. Whether it was building a playground, repairing shower stalls, teaching welding to the young men, giving away hundreds of teddy bears to children or burying an orphan with dignity – his goal was always the same – to show them that God loved them like they were the only ones on the planet.
